The Shapes of Things to Come invites the viewer to enter into wonder in the most intimate yet often underestimated and ignored spaces of our existence—our home. Using common (or commonly used) everyday items such as furniture and fashion, Erica Huff transforms these objects into surprising and whimsical shapes, adding fresh elements to question assumed limits. Reaching beyond the mundane and humdrum, Huff invites the viewer (and user) to imagine fresh possibilities in arenas formerly unchallenged or unexplored. Why shouldn’t a couch offer removable blocks out the back? Does a table need to be flat surfaced to be functional? Could a chair lead your eye to the heavens? Or even fly? With Huff’s imagined world, these things should be possible.

By expanding wonder in the everyday maybe together we can curate a world where the impossible becomes possible and beauty is seen in new and unexpected places. Home seems the most natural place to start.

Come explore this exhibit with an evening of refreshments, music, and of course furniture and fashion. Hope to see you there!
